February 2026, CHICAGO, Ill. – People is a solo exhibition by Zsófia Ötvös presenting new paintings that depict figures suspended on the verge of change. The exhibition runs throughout February 2026 at CSI Project Space & Gallery, located at 1912 N. Damen Avenue in Chicago’s Bucktown neighborhood.

The works focus on moments of pause—figures standing, waiting, or gathering themselves before a possible shift. Action is withheld in favor of restraint and internal tension, with emphasis placed on the surrounding empty space: a space that holds experience and lived time, where a noise-filled quiet resolve exists. Figures are often isolated against textured, pared-down surfaces, heightening their presence and underscoring the stillness at the core of the work. This exhibition marks Ötvös’ fourth presentation at CSI Project Space & Gallery.

Ötvös is an Emmy-nominated makeup artist for the television series The Bear and serves as resident makeup artist at Trap Door Theatre. Working across fine art, performance, and film, her visual art practice is informed by character development, physical nuance, and narrative restraint.

Guest Artist
Melissa Kolbusz of WIRED jewelry will present a selection of wearable works made from reclaimed and surplus materials.
